Overview
Before your school can go live on Atomi, we need your class and students' data. This guide walks you through how to export that data from your school's system, format it correctly using the Atomi Import Template and send it to us.
Taking a few minutes to format your data correctly means we can get your school set up faster, without any back-and-forth.
Step 1: Export your data from your student information system (SIS)
You'll need to export a list of your classes, Teachers and Students from your school's student information system. Most systems allow you to export this as a spreadsheet or CSV file.
What you'll need in your export:
Class names or codes
Year levels
Subjects
Teacher email addresses
Student email addresses
If you're not sure how to export from your system, contact your IT administrator or your SIS provider's support team. They'll be able to point you in the right direction.
You can also reach out to your Customer Success Manager, and we'll help you figure out the best path.
Step 2: Format your data using the Atomi Import Template
Once you have your data, copy it into the Atomi Import Template. This makes sure everything is in the right format for our team to get your account set up quickly.
How the template is structured
The template is organised by column. Each class gets its own column. Row 1 is empty, and from row 2 downwards, you'll fill in the class details, followed by one Student email per row going down.

Field guide
Field | What to enter | Example |
Class name | The name or code for the class. This is how it will appear in Atomi, so use whatever your school uses. | 10ENGA |
Year | The year level as a single number. Must be one of: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12. | 10 |
Subject | The subject for this class. Only include subjects that are part of your Atomi subscription or trial. Not sure what's included? Reach out to your Customer Success Manager. | English Advanced |
Teacher email | The Teacher's school email address. | |
Teacher email (multiple) | If a class has more than one Teacher, list all emails in the same cell separated by a pipe character (|) with no spaces on either side. | j.smith@school.edu.au|k.jones@school.edu.au |
Student emails | One Student email per row, going down the column. Use school email addresses. Add as many rows as you need. |
Common mistakes to avoid
Don't write "Year 10" in the Year field. Enter just the number (e.g. 10)
Each class gets its own column. Don't combine multiple classes into one
For multiple Teachers, use a pipe character (|) with no spaces on either side
Use school email addresses only, not personal email addresses
Only include subjects that are part of your Atomi subscription or trial
Step 3: Send your completed template to us
Once your template is filled in, email it as an attachment to provisioning@getatomi.com or send it directly to your Customer Success Manager.
What happens next? Our team will review your data, match your subjects to the Atomi content library and get your classes set up. We'll be in touch once everything is ready to go.
If you have any questions while filling in the template, reach out. We're always happy to help.
FAQs
What if I don't know which subjects are included in our subscription?
Reach out to your Customer Success Manager. They can confirm which subjects are available on your school's plan and help you match your class data to the right content.
Can I add more classes or Students after my school is set up?
Yes. Once your school is live, you can send updated classes to your Customer Success Manager or to provisioning@getatomi.com and our team will add them for you. New Students can be added directly in your Atomi account by an Atomi Admin. Once added to your account, Teachers can add the required Students directly to their classes.
What file format should I send?
Send the completed Atomi Import Template as a Google Sheets link or download it as an .xlsx or .csv file and email it as an attachment.
How long does setup take after I send my data?
Once we receive your completed template, our team will typically set up your school within 72 hours. We'll let you know as soon as everything is ready.
