When you’re answering maths and science questions in Atomi, you now have tools that make it easier to show your full working, not just the final answer.
You can use the Symbols library to add fractions, powers, equations and other maths notation, or switch to the Draw tool to write out your working by hand, just like you would on paper.
Together, these tools give you the flexibility to respond in the way that works best for you, whether you're typing equations, handwriting your steps, or using a combination of both.
Adding symbols from a library
You can add maths symbols to the answer field using a few different methods:
Auto-suggest: Start typing the name of a symbol (e.g. pi, square) and you’ll see suggestions you can click to insert.
Symbols button: Click the Symbols icon in the toolbar to open the full library.
Draw tool: Switch to freehand mode to write your work by hand.
Using auto-suggest
Just start typing the name of the symbol you need. For example, typing pi will suggest π.
Select the correct option from the list and it will be inserted into your answer.
Using the Symbols library
Click the Symbols button in the toolbar to open the full library of maths symbols and functions.
You can find the symbol you need by either:
Scrolling through the list
Typing the symbol name into the search bar
Once you’ve found it, just click the symbol to insert it into your answer.
Using the Draw tool
Click the Draw button in the toolbar to open the handwriting panel.
Use your mouse or stylus to write your answer by hand, just like you would on paper.
When you're done, click Insert formula to add your handwritten response into the answer box.
You can continue editing your response at any time using the keyboard or formula tools.
Expand the Draw canvas (coming soon)
For longer or more detailed answers, click the expand icon to switch to full-screen mode. This gives you more space to work and a smoother writing experience.
