The learning habits of students are quickly changing towards online resources and video lessons to provide content. This, in turn, has had an impact on the role of teachers and classrooms and provides the motivation to change the model from a passive environment to one which is more engaging and provides greater depth to the learning process. This changing dynamic for teachers also signals a need to be more informed of how students learn and access content from other sources.

In this small group, face-to-face professional development course with industry leader Sam Di Sano we'll introduce you to the challenges which exist in the present classroom as well as research the methods to deepen student engagement through the implementation of active learning principles. You'll work in small groups to consider a range of active learning methods and how you can maximise effectiveness and optimise your face-to-face classroom time.  By the end of the course, you'll have successfully integrated effective active learning strategies into your chosen lesson plans.

This course addresses the following standard descriptors:

Standard 3
Professional Practice - Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning.

Descriptor 3.2.2
Plan and implement well structured learning and teaching programs or lesson sequences that engage students and promote learning.
